Registration Guidelines

The Registration system offers you the opportunity to register for the congress, and purchase tickets for social events and post-congress workshops if you wish to do so.

To register for the congress, you are required to create an account on the website, so that we can keep track of all your purchases and send you your tickets. If you are an IFA member you already have an account on the website. If you are not an IFA member, the registration process will guide you to create a website account but you are not required to join the IFA (unless you wish to do so).

Delegate fees are displayed in Japanese yen with the approximate equivalent value in US dollars also visible. At the point of checkout the system will convert the yen value to dollars (using daily exchange rates from the European Central Bank). Payments can then be made in US dollars via Paypal and the system will guide you through the process. Please note that you do not need a Paypal account to pay via Paypal, just a debit or credit card.

You will receive an email confirmation for each registration or event that you book, and the email acts as your ticket. It can take several hours for all of the confirmations to process, but please check your confirmation emails and contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if anything is outstanding a few hours after you have completed your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your registration may not have been completed, even if you have a paypal receipt. Please contact us so that we can check that everything is in order on your behalf.

Congress options

The Congress begins on Friday 13th July 2018, with registration lopen from 8:30am on that date and the opening ceremony starting at 9.45am. Presentations will follow for the rest of the day until approximately 17:30. The remaining 3 days of the Congress will begin at 8.45am and end at 17.30, apart from the final day which will end at 16.45.

You can choose to register for either a 4-day congress pass or one or more 1-day passes. The early-bird rate will be available until 31st May 2018, and is 30,000 yen (approx. $280) for a 4-day pass, or 10,000 yen (approx. $95) for each 1-day pass. From 1st June 2018, congress fees will revert to the standard rate, which is 40,000 yen (approximately $370) for a 4-day pass and 14,000 yen (approximately $130) for a 1-day pass.


The congress fees include lunch, and refreshments during breaks for those who register through this website in advance. Lunch will not be served for those who register on-site. We strongly recommend you to register as early as possible!

All congress delegates must create an account on the website and register for the congress individually, so that we have details of your name and dietary requirements.


Catering options

Specific or restricted diets are much less common in Japan than they are in some other countries. While we recognize that many individuals do have specific requirements, we cannot guarantee to meet these needs reliably and safely. For this reason, we are offering only 'regular' and 'vegetarian' options for catering at the congress and associated social events.

Social events and post-congress workshops

There are several social events and two post-congress workshops in addition to the congress itself. Many, but not all, of these events have a limited number of discounted tickets available, so it is advantageous to purchase tickets for these events early. Once the maximum number of discounted tickets have been sold, the remaining tickets available for these events will be sold at full price.

If you will be accompanied by your partner, children or friends, you can purchase additional tickets to these events if you wish. These individuals do not need to create an account on the website unless they are registering for the congress itself. You may purchase one additional ticket at the same time as purchasing your own ticket for each event. Upon completing the purchase, you can go back into the system and purchase further additional tickets if required.


Terms and Conditions

2018 Joint World Congress Cancellation policy: If you find you are unable to attend the IFA World Congress after registering, another person may attend in your place but please advise the Congress Registration Team (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) of a change of name. If you find it necessary to cancel the registration completely, please notify the Congress Registration Team immediately. Provided written notice is received by Monday 4 June 2018, a full refund will be given less a 10% administration charge. Provided written notice is received by Monday, 18 June 2018, a 50% refund will be given. Unfortunately, for registrations cancelled after Monday, 18 June 2018, or for no-shows at the conference, the full fee (100% cancellation charges) will be payable.

In the unlikely event the IFA has to cancel the Congress, all pre-paid congress registration fees will be reimbursed. IFA shall not be liable for reimbursing the cost of travel or accommodation arrangements made by individual delegates.

IFA Membership: Memberships in the IFA are not refundable. If you make a mistake in purchasing a membership please contact us as soon possible.
